Danny set for new season
DIDSBURY attached professional Danny Wardrop is looking to build on the inspiration he gained from playing in last year’s Open Championship at Turnberry.
Danny 26, was an outstanding junior at Didsbury playing for Cheshire and England and winning a host of top titles before joining the paid ranks some six years ago under the astute management of Chubby Chandler.
Since then he has played all over the world in a wide range of competitions, mainly on the European Challenge Tour and Europro Tour. Undoubtedly the highlight of 2009 was to qualify for the Open Championship at Turnberry where he had the opportunity to meet and play with some top names including John Daly and Greg Norman. Danny missed the cut to his own and his many fans’ disappointment but he felt that he gained much from the experience.
He said: “It was really inspirational meeting and playing with some of the legends and top players in the game and there is so much I learned from the experience that I hope will come into play during the coming season. “Once more I will be involved with the Challenge and Europro Tours beginning in March in Kenya. “I have been working on small changes to my swing with my coach Mark Pearson at Oulton Hall, where I won a Europro competition. “I have also worked hard on my fitness over the winter months and put in many hours of practice at Didsbury on my short game.
“My ultimate aim is to win a place on the full European Tour and I will be giving it my best shot over the coming months. “I am always looking for any sponsorship and for anyone interested in helping in any way I can be contacted on 07990 8231 187.”
