Didsbury Golf Club announces competitive fees for under 30’s
Didsbury Golf Club has restructured the membership fees for 2010 in a move to attract a ‘younger’ profile of member to this prestigious South Manchester Golf Club.
With its extensive practice facilities, this popular and established 18-hole course has a strong tradition of attracting some of the best players in the area, many of whom have gone on to achieve success at national and professional standard.
However, at a time when many ‘younger’ golfers are comparing the cost of their annual subscription against other competing recreational expenses, Didsbury has recognised the need to structure its fees to match the disposable income of golfers aged 30 and under.
The Club has halved the fees for full male and female Members in age brackets 18-21 and 21-24 years from the 2009 rates, to £176 and £220 respectively. With full fees of £880, this represents a saving of 80% for an 18 year old school leaver.
For those Members in their mid to late 20’s, Didsbury is also offering a 50% discount on the 2010 full fees for Members aged 25 to 27 (£440) and a further 25% discount for those aged 28 – 30 (£660).
Club Manager John Mort said “We recognised the problem caused from a sudden large increase in costs forced on younger players when they move from the junior ranks and we can appreciate that this step change in fees, typical in most Golf Clubs, comes at exactly the wrong time for the younger golfer. As a result, we have introduced a competitive structured discount rate for male and female members aged between 18 to 30.”
“The annual fees for Juniors aged 13 to 15 are only £83, and for that they can play as many times a year as they wish. Didsbury is proud of the successes achieved with its popular junior golf program, as seen in 2009 when the junior team won the Mersey Club’s Junior League. However, it is important for the future development of the sport for all Golf Clubs to encourage Juniors to stay with the game of golf after leaving school. This new fees initiative will definitely help in assisting current Didsbury and prospective members as they join the adult ranks, right through to the age of 30”.
“Since posting the changes on the Club’s web-site we have already had several enquiries from local residents in their early 20’s expressing an interest in membership, which is encouraging for the future.”
